Always on trend and always in vogue, high heels tend to slink away during winter, for fear of slipping on frosty streets or perhaps just developing frostbite in your toes. But now that the weather is warmer it is time to book in for a pedicure and then embrace your inner fashion goddess with the latest high heel trends.
Sarah Jessica Parker (best known for her alter-ego, Carrie Bradshaw, the passionate collector of sexy shoes) recently stated that she wants women to rethink the whole concept of “neutral”. She recommends being “really brazen about using color” so that you can set yourself apart as being wonderfully unique. She also suggested that purple, grey or even scarlet could be the “new black”, a revolutionary statement that opens up a world of possibilities for lovers of high heels everywhere.
So, this year, what will your shoes say about you? That you play it safe and abide by the old fashion rules or that you are a fabulous and independent woman who embraces the idea of standing out from the crowd?
If your shoe cupboard is desperately in need of an upgrade, here are a few tips from the Highest Heel Collection to get you started:
Color Is In:
Don’t argue with Sarah Jessica Parker – embrace color! Think about your usual wardrobe, both for business and pleasure. Are you a fan of charcoal suits and little black dresses? Team them up with something bold, bright and fun, like a red patent Mary Jane platform. Do you opt for more of a kitschy look? Try teaming a neon green pump with some of your favorite outfits.
Put Your Toes On Show:
What is the point of having a lush pedicure if no one can see your toes? Invest in some open toe platforms or pumps that compliment your favorite shades of toenail polish, like the neon yellow open toe pump.
Liven It Up:
Sure, there are going to be some cold, wet or windy days where you’ll be tempted to drag the heavy brown boots back out of the box. Resist! Instead, try out some striking ankle boots that can be teamed up with a more subtle wardrobe selection. Golden sequin ankle booties or the fuchsia sequin open toe bootie will look amazing with darker colored skinny jeans.
Legendary shoe designer Christian Louboutin once said: “A woman carries her clothes. But the shoe carries the woman.” This year, make sure the right shoes are carrying you!
